Benny is a stunning 40 year old Catalina Macaw with a heart of gold. After spending most of his life with his devoted original owner, Benny found himself in our rescue when his owner passed away. While his next chapter included a free-roaming, bird-safe room, living with two female macaws triggered strong hormonal and nesting behaviors. Because Benny had not been handled much in the past, we weren’t sure if he would always prefer to be a hands-off companion.\
We are thrilled to report that Benny has absolutely thrived in his foster home and proved us all wrong! He has revealed himself to be an incredibly sweet, social, and fully handleable gentleman. This wonderfully social boy steps right up for everyone and loves following his humans around the house just to be part of the action. He happily accepts head scritches, sits on your lap, and will even gently preen you while you hang out together.
Benny is also a brilliant student who is highly food-motivated and eager to learn. He thrives during target training and has already mastered fun tricks like “spin around” and “show your wings” in exchange for healthy snacks. Benny is a friendly, resilient bird who is ready to be the center of your world. If you are looking for a smart, interactive companion to share your couch with, Benny is ready to join your flock.
