Sterling

Triton Cockatoo –
Age: 20 yrs old. –
Sex: Male –

Meet Sterling, a 20-year-old male Triton cockatoo currently in a foster home getting tons of love and treats. Sterling is a strong-willed, expressive bird who lost his person and is still learning that people can be trusted again. He isn’t shy about sharing his feelings, and he’ll absolutely let you know what he wants—whether that’s attention, affection, or space.

Once trust is earned, Sterling has a deeply affectionate side. He loves giving kisses, makes kissy sounds when you kiss him first, and chats with phrases like “hey baby,” “who’s a good boy,” and “who’s a pretty bird.” He thrives on interaction and enjoys being the center of attention, but he needs someone who understands that trust comes slowly and is built through consistency and patience.

Sterling is fully flighted and an excellent flyer, enjoys a good bath, and surprisingly does very well at the vet for toe trims despite his stranger danger. He’s a dedicated chewer—so much so that his foster family makes many of his toys—and he has strong opinions about food (he prefers chunks over chop and isn’t afraid to toss his displeasure your way). He also has a playful, goofy side and will “moon” you when he’s feeling silly.

Sterling would do best as the only bird in a calm, stable home, and he seems to prefer women. He truly wants to be the sweetest boy and to love his person fully—he just needs reassurance that when tomorrow comes, you’ll still be there. With slow, steady bonding and a patient heart, Sterling has the potential to form an incredibly meaningful lifelong connection.
