One of the most important goals of The Charlie Brown Bird Rescue is to make sure that all of our feather babies go to good, loving homes. Here are some examples of happy families. I was quite surprised and also pleased about how thorough the adoption application was. It actually took me 2 days to complete. I thought Wow, they want to make sure the bird is cared for. Well I had no idea just how much they REALLY DO CARE. It was several months before I saw BJ on their web page. And he was all I could think about. I really wanted to met him. So finally when he became available I went to the rescue. I’ve read some reviews, all good, but honestly trying to write my own, none of the words like amazing, wonderful, terrific, etc. seem to be enough. Amanda is a bird angel. She and her volunteers have made sure each bird in their care has a healthy diet, a clean space, attention, is seen by a vet, and any special needs are addressed. She explained the adoption process, diet, and sent a bag of chopped veggies, fruit, and seeds, also some pellets and receipts. BJ was given his special hanging blanket one of the volunteers made, along with all his toys. And we keep in close touch so she can see his progress. I am so in love with BJ and I just can’t thank Amanda and The Charlie Brown Bird Rescue enough. There are so many wonderful birds looking for families to love them, BJ is 36 years old. He is learning lots of tricks and is very affectionate, even though I didn’t get him as baby. I hope his previous owners know that he is well loved, I could tell by what he says that they loved him. –Hettie and BJ
I picked up Mrs. Peabody (now known as Peeper) on June 21, 2020. A loooong year of some vicious bites. I had to use a wire cage shelf to move her from place to place (and still guard arms and fingers) and I always had to wear long sleeves if she needed to be moved/picked up. I honestly thought she would NEVER be a bird that could be held. Almost overnight at the end of May/beginning of June, she suddenly started following me, wanting to be picked up! I can’t say that I’m 100% confident that she won’t suddenly bite–I keep her away from my face–but such a huge difference! I love my beautiful girl! –Belinda
