Fred is a senior Mealy Amazon with a soft heart and a big voice — and like most Amazons, they are incredibly loud, so a noise-tolerant home is a must. Though previously claimed to be female, we don’t have DNA confirmation, so Fred goes by they/them here at the rescue.
Despite their volume, Fred is actually quite reserved in nature. They enjoy being around people, quietly hanging out on the couch or relaxing on a perch nearby. Hands, however, can make Fred nervous, so a patient adopter who respects their boundaries will help them feel safe and understood.
Fred may not be a hands-on bird right now, but they truly enjoy companionship and the comfort of simply sharing space with their favorite humans. With gentle consistency and a calm environment, this sweet elder Amazon can continue to thrive.
